e/n site & camgirl reunion?
Finally, something has brought me back out of hiding.... I'm dusting off the old blog for the first time in almost 6 months (holy shit, is that right?)
Just briefly, yes I'm fine. All is well in Rhiannon-land. Work is good, living situation is still great, relationship status is still happily taken.
2008 has been a good year so far, and is only going to get better. I have a 2 trips planned for later in the year; the first being 5 nights in Melbourne in July with Houmam and Alezeia. It'll be the first visit to melbourne for both Houmam and myself, and we're really looking forward to the cold weather which will no doubt remind us of the UK/Europe trip of December 06. Well, he's looking forward to it, I'm expecting to freeze my ass off, but it'll be fun to wear lots of layers and rug up.
Alezeia and I are also going to see Wicked while in Melbourne. It'll be my second viewing - since seeing it in London I've listened to the soundtrack a zillion times and now know the lyrics back to front, so I'm really looking forward to seeing my 2nd favourite musical of all time.
Now if only I could see my all time favourite musical, Rent.... oh that's right! I AM! ON BROADWAY!
ok, rewind..... So I've always wanted to visit the USA, but during my uni days I was broke and the Australian dollar was dreadfully weak against the American dollar. But I knew soooo many people from the USA through the internet & my site, the whole camgirl, e/n community. If I had been able to visit back in 2001 or 2002, there would have been so many people I could have met up with, people who also ran e/n sites and camsites.
It never happened, but I still daydreamed that one day I'd go over and visit all these fellow camgirls/bloggers.
Finally, this year, I realized that I was in the perfect situation to do this trip. The aussie dollar is kicking ass and taking names, I've actually got a decent savings account. And if I didn't get my finger out and just do it, it would never happen. I started enquiring about flights and discussing the trip with american Rhiannon and before I knew it, I've got a flight booked and a 3.5 week trip to start planning.
We're planning to do a road trip around the north eastern states - Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Niagara Falls, and whatever else we can see along the way. Both Rhitard and I wanted to see a Broadway show, and of course I wanted to see Rent. It was due to finally close (after 12 years on Broadway) in June, but last month it was announced they have extended the season until September and we were able to score tickets to one of the last ever Broadway shows of Rent!!!! Its costing an arm and a leg, but who cares!!!! Now if only they can wrangle in some of the original cast members for that last week of shows, I could die truly happy.
I knew that if I ever got to New York City, I would HAVE to catch up with Dr Grosz (as I've been a huge fan of his site and various bands for years), and Rhitard is mates with Jacquelyn (used to run Artfag.net) and Igor. I got back in touch with Igor the other week and he was keen to catch up.
I started to think of other people from the e/n community pre-2002 who were still around online, and I knew Chelle had lived in NYC for a while. And now she is keen to come visit NYC while we are there! YAY!
I also remembered Bertie (used to run SuperHyperDemonChild.com and the first two Survivorcam games) lived in NYC, and a quick google search later, I had found her on Facebook and was asking her if she wanted to meet up. She's also keen and might be able to track down a few other girls (Sarah from Wondergirl.org, and Huny from ThatBitch.com). I'm absolutely over the moon. I think this will be totally hilarious and a lot of fun. I read most of these sites for years and felt like I knew these people even though we had never met.
Of course, no trip to the USA and no reunion of camgirls would be complete without the ultimate camgirl, Nay. She has put her life up for show for so long, and I've followed her site/s over the years from a distance. I have no idea if she would even want to catch up with me or any one else, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. So Renee, please come to NYC in September and come hang out with me!
Now if only I can get Sheila (from Chickenlegs.net & Cheesythighs.com) and Jansson (from Oddd.org) to travel all the way across the country too. Or track down Mindy from 5ilver.net, or Perfekt. hmmmm.

I think we need to make little sections on our websites to document our trip and to let people know that we're coming so they can meet up with us if they want. Ahhh, man, I haven't geeked it out in awhile....I am sooooo excited for our trip!!!

Hmmm, Sheila! What is she doing nowadays? Rhitard and Artfag should know since they used to blog at Chickenlegs back then as well and have met in real live before, as far as i know.
I also have (among many others) the following camgirls in good memory (which were all quite popular): Beth, Jennygirl, katieg3, Pamela (friend of Nay), Toki, Sahracide... and of course: SAMMIE!!!

Having visited NYC for the first time last year, I will warn you that the cab rides are roller coaster scary. They're not cheap either.
You COULD get a zip car, but driving in downtown NYC falls somewhere between "deathwish" and "suicidal".
Do yourself a favor and hit up Grand Central Station. It's wild seeing early 20th century design mixed with modern technology.
And if you like Indian food, go to Tamarind. Highly recommended.
A Yankees game is an experience in and of itself. :)

ok i know you've no idea who i am, but reading this entry [which i just came upon through googling 'chickenlegs' + 'sheila' because i saw a pic of sheila on shant's [punogre] facebook and wondered what she's up to nowadays] took me through a serious memory trip. i was one of the biggest fans of the e/n and camsite/ blogs-before-blogs-existed sites... followed all of the main people, survivorcam, stileproject shootoffs, etc.. wow. nostalgia, big time.
just wanted to say thanks for making me think of all those people and their sites i used to be sooooo involved with back when i was an impressionable youngsta.. what a mindfuck indeed.

naeiri/venus - every so often i google all sorts of people from back in the day, and slowly i'm finding more and more of them on facebook. its such a shame those e/n, camsite years weren't better documented and recorded for posterity. where was wikipedia and youtube when you needed them!!!!!
mike - thanks for the tips. hopefully catching up with some local New yorkers will make the visit run a lot smoother. love indian food, baseball - not so much
