[Breast Reduction Journal] day #18 - healing nicely

no longer do i feel like i have zombie-boobies. the frankenboobs are long gone. my nipples look like they are part of my boobs and the scars are coming along nicely.

i've decided to upload all my photos, from the day of the surgery up until now, in my photo gallery. I'll keep adding new photos as I recover. Check out the breast reduction gallery here. The latest photos were from day 16. The wounds are no long wounds. They are healed and now are scars. Its crazy how quickly our bodies heal.

Todays my last day of holidays, I'm back at work on monday. I came into the city to meet everyone for pub lunch today and then ended up coming back to work because I couldn't be assed to go home and then come back in again. So i've just been going through my emails, deleting all the spam, sorting all the emails, saving the important ones. Save me having to do it on monday.

I'm glad to be back, I've missed everyone and just missed the atmosphere of work. Although I definitely could have enjoyed a few more days of watching tv shows. I've now finished 2 seasons of dawson's creek, 1 season of felicity and a few movies.

Do your boobs hurt at all? Can you wear a bra?

Looks like everything is healing well. They look really good, your surgeon did a great job.

Glad everything has done so well for you!

    Hi Rhi...
Sorry if I look somewhat rude, but I'd like to take advantage from the fact you're so talkative and explanative about your operation...
My question is (after have looked at your fake-like nipples)... Will you still be able to feed your babies now?

marco - yes, i should be able to breastfeed. no complications as they didn't actually disconnect my nipples. they remained attached to the milk ducts, nerves and all that. they were just moved up.

good to be back too andrew :)

    Hi Rhi

Not sure if the doctor has given you any gels/creams to put on your scars but I recently had an operation on my stomach and a friend suggested I use paw paw ointment on the scar.

I did and my scar is barely visible - my doctor was actually quite stunned when he saw the result.

    Good luck with everything.

hi christine. ooh interesting, pawpaw oil. i haven't heard of that. i'll keep that in mind thanks! how long after the surgery did you start using it?
i have this silocone gel sheet stuff called Cica Care which i'll be using after 4 weeks post op.

Eew, those scars look pretty nasty when they're fresh, but it's good to see that they are healing nicely.

My mom always told me to use stuff with vitamin E and K for helping scars to heal. Do you have something called Neosporin in Aus? They have a product (sort of like a bandaid) that is supposed to reduce scarring.

    Hey Rhi

Um I think I started using the Paw Paw Ointment about a week after the surgery. At that point most of the inflammation had settled and it wasn't so raw. I found it helped calm the itching you get when the scars are healing/scabbing.

You can get it in a tube from the chemist, it's quite cheap.

Enjoy the quick healing while you can! That's one of the first things to go as we get older. Which is an excellent argument for getting this done now rather than ten years from now.

Thanks for the pictures. They are pretty enlightening. (still think it's a brave brave thing to do) The breasts look great. They are bigger than I would have guessed from the original postop pictures. Very perky. (but, like you said, it will settle some) Good luck!

You look great. I will second the Vitamin E thingy. I've seen it work in dozens of incidents. It's natural and you'll barely see the scars - if at all. I haven't heard of Paw Paw Ointment, but I guess whatever works.
