Douglas Fir EP Launch, 18 March 2006
My flatmate's band, Douglas Fir has their Brisbane EP launch next saturday, 18th March at the Zoo.
Douglas Fir are heading off to the states at the end of the month for 2 whole months of gigs in California and New York- and they keep booking more and more shows. They are also going back to the states in July for the Vans Warped Tour.
Although they have struggled to find a place for their music here in Australia, the States is absolutely loving their sound. "Think funk meets rock, with a dash of pop." And I wouldnt be surprised if they do really well........
So if you live in Brisbane, come and see them now BEFORE they reach super stardom, so you can say "yea, i knew them back in the day!"
Plus I'll be there :) And if that isn't reason enough to go, well.... MEH!
Tickets are only $11.50. You can either get them on the door or from the usual ticket venues. If I know you, I can hook you up with tickets.
If you live in Sydney or Melbourne, don't fear, you haven't been forgotten.
Melbourne launch: March 9th (ie TONIGHT!!!)

8pm, Cat & Fiddle, Balmain

ouch. maybe australia isn't embracing their sound because well...they're trying to sound so american. assuming the singer is australian, he sounds like he's putting on a grating american accent?
ps: of course you're allowed to write what you want in your blog, and we enjoy that. no need to get so angry over that person's opinion.
pps: when a band puts their music out there, obviously they're going to get good reviews and bad reviews. if you have to delete blog comments because they can't stand to see any negativity floating around, they should probably think about a career change.

margaret, i'm not deleting comments coz they can't 'hack' the critisism. they dont even know about my blog and all of your comments.
and yea, i loves it too. i give people the option to comment anonymously, because not everyone has a blogger account and if i made every one sign up just to comment, i would have NO comments. but even tho you dont have to sign in, you can still write in a name so we know who we're talking to. instead of just anonymous all the time. is that latest anon, the same anon as earlier on? who knows!

A little late my comment about this post...
I think they are gonna do it good in California, they have that California sound, their sound isn't that new, but the same goes for all this retro bands out there so...
The songs they have at Myspace are well produced, everything is in place. And for lame things, there’s Simple Plan. Although I have just heard 3 songs (and didn't liked one, ironically I think that one is more radiofriendly that the actual single from the EP) and definitely I can’t make a hole judgment (bad or good) from those 3, but they aren't that bad.

I don't really like them either. Kinda boring and a bit too RHCP rip off. :( Sorry, I wish I did because I like supporting Aussie bands.
