GOD DAMN IE
man i had IE with a passion. my last post was broken (the whole content div was being pushed down under the column) because i had used italics. I've used alot of similar css as alot of the sites I work on for work, and I've had this same problem. Use italics, whether it be <i></i>, or <em></em> or even <span style="FONT-STYLE: italic"></span>IT ALWAYS BREAKS!
its fine in firefox, but god damn IE. *shakes fist*
I found this page about IE's italics bug.
Due to the italics bug, IE makes (sometimes) the main div wider than it should....
The two previous points trigger another IE bug, that causes the main div to drop below the float when it cannot fit at its side.
STUPID STUPID STUPID IE!
they offer a solution at the end of this page so i'm going to keep reading through it and try and fix it.
but if you are viewing my site with IE (and my stats say 60% of you are), please raise your hand and slap yourself in the face. Then go and Download Firefox. It's free, its so much more secure , it automatically blocks viruses, spyware and pop up ads. And tabbed browsing is revolutionary. I don't know how I lived without it for so long.

Indeed, firefox is much better than IE I fall in love with the tabs thing with Safari, that and the fact is more secure. Sadly I still need to use IE 'cause a lot of sites aren't design to work properly with any other explorer than IE.

On a monthly bases, FireFox actually has more bugs than Internet Explorer. It's security comes from the obscurity of being the lesser used/lesser tested browser. FireFox is also showing itself to be less stable. From the usability side, it's only real upside is that it conforms to Internet standards, where as MicroSoft conforms only to its own standards. Every feature of FireFox, less tabbed browsing, can be obtained in IE with Google's toolbar.

pfffft whatever. firefox rocks your socks!
thanks for pointing out ANOTHER great feature of firefox- conforming to internet standards. its such a bitch to design a layout only to have it fuck up in IE.

IE7 has tabs and I've heard that it's actually pretty good. I believe you can download a beta version of it now (not sure where from).

Firefox is the best thing I've found in forever. I love it. IE can die.
However FF's email cousin Thunderbird lost me all my mail since the beginning of time, so trudging head-in-hands back to Microsoft Outlook I go...
