god i'm going insane waiting for mum to come visit. my hair is really bothering me, it feels so long and scraggly. its not doing anything i want it to do. plus i haven't seen mum in ages, so i'm getting really excited. and of course there's the slight nervousness that goes along with parentals meeting 'the boyfriend'... even though the rest of my family has met him and given him the seal of approval. hehe

on friday night, we had another work social club activity - this time it was a 2 hour sunset cruise. Floating around the brisbane river, with food and drink of course. First sip of alcohol and I almost stumbled - i didn't have my sea legs. But the cruise went by without a hitch. I was so sure someone would fall down those steep steps, or would spill a drink, but i think the whole evening went by without incident.

Most of us continued on at the Plough Inn afterwards, which was lots of fun and very revealing. Of course, lots of photos were taken- my photos are of course in my gallery.

More photos are here on david's site. And I think aaron will have some pics up at some point.

There was an 18th birthday party also there, and a few girls were in costume... There were 2 girls in Sexy Cop costumes. I got one of the girls email addresses so I could find out what website she got hers off. It was so awesome!!!! Check her out here. Unfortunately with $30 postage, and then converter american dollars to aussie dollars, the costume would end up costing $110. But god, I think it would be worth it.

Another girl had bought her costume from Bra's & Things, but it just wasn't as good as this one and had long sleeves. I much prefer the short sleeved option. Don't ask me what I would do with a Sexy Cop costume (ok ok, I could definatley think of something to do with it/someone to appreciate it ;) hehe). But I just want to own an awesome, kick ass costume- so I've got it handy for any future costume parties. I've spent some much money hiring costumes in the past- I might as well just buy a costume to have and to own. And as much as I love Wonder Woman, the sexy cop costume (with little black mini over the top) is a bit more 'wearable in public' than the Wonder Woman leotard.

The rest of my weekend was pretty good. Holly, Cindy and I went to dinner at the Turkish resturant I used to work at in 2002. The food was even better than I remember it, and we stuffed ourselves silly, then watched movies at Holly's place.
The guys at work have also started downloading all the new series of our favourite tv shows - Lost, Arrested Development, Nip Tuck, The OC (ok, so that was me. I'm sure they don't watch the OC heh), as well as some new shows- Kitchen Confidential (with Xander from Buffy in it!!!!) and My Name Is Earl.

MY GOD, how good was the season premier of Lost!!!! If you haven't seen it yet, GO! DOWNLOAD!

Triple J Whore

I'm turning into a huge triple j fan. I've been listening to it at work most days. I never really got into the radio, because I don't drive (and most people seem to do their radio listening in the car on the way to work/home again). I don't even own a radio/sterio- My computer & speakers and ipod are all I need.

ANyway, the other week I was listening to Myf during the Lunch Time show, and she was talking about the lead singer of Maximo Park and said she thought he was sporting a comb over, but wasnt sure. Straight away I googled and lo and behold, he IS sporting a comb over. Shocking!!! Then again, I guess if the mullet can make a comeback, so can the combover.

I posted in Myf's guestbook on the triple j website and linked to some pics of his dreadfully unfashionable combover.... A few minutes later she starts talking about Maximo Park and announces the hairstyle was confirmed by Rhiannon in the guestbook. I almost squealed and looked around crazily, but then realized no one else could hear the radio as I had head phones on.

A bit later on, she mentioned the combover, my guestbook comment and thanked me again. Can you tell I was having a boring day at work? I got so excited though, being mentioned on the radio, even if no one else heard it.

SO today, during the regular lunchtime trashy quiz, I had to repress the urge to bash my head repeatedly against the desk, as caller after caller kept fucking up the quiz questions. I'd like to say they were easy questions, but unless you're a celebrity-trash blog reader, I guess they weren't. I just had to vent my frustrations somewhere, so back to the trusty guestbook. I left another comment, and mentioned I'd kick ass in this quiz but I can't really call during work, and a few minutes later it appeared along with this response:

Rhiannon, I hear your pain!
Thanks for the websites too. I haven't been to them before . . .
You're unreal. We'll have to get you on one day.
Myf

So naturally I had to respond again, this time with my website url at the end of my comment. hehehehe. So if it gets posted and anyone follows the link to my site, HI *waves*.

zomg an update

mum is going to be coming to brisbane the weekend before my birthday for some birthday shopping and hopefully we can squeeze in a little birthday hair cut (otherwise i'll be going to the gold coast the weekend after my birthday for Indy, so we can do it then).

anyway, hair discussions and thoughts always give me something to blog about, so i'm returning from hiatus a little earlier than expected.

The latest thoughts and ideas have been:

Ok i'm liking the length... AT THE BACK. And possibly the length on the sides, just in front of the ears... maybe. however I'm NOT liking the length on top, on my crown. its too long so it just hangs there. If it was shorter over the top/crown, it could be messy and spiked up.
I also don't like the weight of the fringe. Its growing on from the shorter cut, but now the front/fringe bits are getting longer, they are really heavy around my face. My sister calls it my Bug hair cut. she says i look like a little bug *shrugs* its very helmet-like, when its all brushed forward and flat.

I dont like this.
So by cutting it shorter over the top, it can stick up messy and shit and not look like bug/helmet like.
But i like the bits at the back and little bits on the side to be longer- but i really need to thin it out at the back.

Put all this together and its getting pretty mullet-like. But that's cool.

There's a contestant in the current Australian Idol, Milly, and I'm really liking her hair.

Only not the blue- i guess i'd just keep the current colours. And I think I'd keep a bit more of a longer fringe.

My flatmate is off to america today and he asked if I wanted anything. I got looking at Hot Topic and I would love to get some clothes from there. I realize its like the Supre for Emo/Goths, but since we don't have it here, its not lame to me. There was a model on there with pretty cool hair- a little too crazy and drastic, but with some elements I liked.

Check it out even bigger here.

I got carried away and ended up making a Hot Topic wishlist and with the big 2-4 next month, I figured it couldn't hurt to post it. heh.
Hot Topic Wishlist here.
God, 24 sounds so old. One more year til 25 and then 30 is right around the corner.

*cry*

Upcoming gigs - Hot Hot Heat this friday! woot can't wait! I've been listening to them non-stop for weeks and they are quickly becoming one of my favourite bands. One of the support bands is Faker, who david saw supporting The Bravery. I've heard mixed reports about them, and although i'm curious to hear them, I dont think they'll be my style of music.
The Indie Temple is closing for good (god, how out of date is that website?), and Saturday is the last night. Rach was keen to go along as this band called Never is playing (fuck, can't find their website, if they have one. google "Never Brisbane Band", but naturally it just brings up random crap)
