the birthday was fun! i spent my last day as a 23 year old cleaning and tidying up our place in preparation for the party/shindig thing. god it needed to be done so badly.

i even scrubbed the whole ensuite from top to bottom (the bathroom attached to my room which i never use- i can't bring myself to poop in a toilet that's only a couple of feet from my pillow. i KNOW there are poop particles everywhere (thanks MythBusters!) but it still grosses me out! I'm not against ensuites but they need to be designed better than this one- ie toilet as far away from the door and the bedroom as possible)

Anyway, I used the party as an excuse to clean all the places I've passed over previously. Food was prepared, music was played and alcohol was consumed late in the afternoon.

People arrived, and fun was had.... and that was all good. Except someone hasn't quite mastered the art of talking, drinking AND eating. of course i chose the two that equalled the most fun (drinking and talking) and carelessly forgot about the eating. Hours wear on and things get a bit blurry and then i remember thinking 'oh i'll just go and have a lie down and gather my thoughts'......

cut to a couple of hours later and I'm woken up by the front door buzzing. I jump up in a daze and answer it and its Carrot Cake's husband, asking if she is there. I kinda rub my eyes a bit and turn around in confusion. As I slowly take in what I'm seeing I realize it looks like there was a party - judging by all the empty bottles, half eaten dips and chairs sprawled around the unit. However there are no people!!!!!!!!

I invite him in as I realize that everyone has moved on to the pub (like we had talked about doing) while I was passed out. I throw on a pair of thongs and bleary eyed, wander over to the local pub with CC's hubby, and find most of the party still drinking and partying on without me! By this stage I'm more awake and suprisingly sober, so I run home and grab my smokes and money and head back over to join the festivities. I realize its just after midnight and its my birthday!!!!!

I was a bit confused (and cranky) that they didn't wake me when they headed over to the pub, but it seems I still have a tendency to sleep-talk. They thought they woke me to tell me they were heading to the pub- BUT I WASN'T AWAKE WHEN YOU TALKED TO ME!

oh well. My little nanna-nap was just what I had needed and I was revitalised enough to keep partying on for a while.

The next day (well, same day, but after sleeping) I woke up feeling pretty darn good despite the alcohol consumed, which is more than I can say for poor rach. I'm sorry I was passed out, otherwise I woudl have looked after your drunk ass!

The flatmates, boy and I braved the rain to go and get brunch at the posh James Street markets. Despite snooty waiters, the food was great and company was even better.

I then spent the rest of my birthday with the boy and Cindy, doing what I love most - snuggling on the couch watching tv shows.

So yea, all in all, a great weekend thanks to everyone. A couple more days and then I'm down to the Gold Coast for Indy this weekend with mum.
