chicken... hehehe, i'm going to eat you

i have a tendency to obsess over things, people, and particularly MUSIC. it doesn't happen very often- my obsession with the beatles started in 1994, my first and deepest obsession. i will always love the beatles- i used to collect anything i could about them. magazine articles, videos, books (and working at a book shop in high school ment i had a HUGE collection). I don't think I really obsessed over another band until Tegan and Sara. I obsessed over alot of songs, but Tegan and Sara were the next band i full become obsessed with. That obsession is still going, don't you worry.

But now, it looks like I've got a new obsession. Eisley.

I cannot stop listening to their music, I got 16 songs off Ellen. A few are a bit dodgy quality, cut off at the end. It looks like the songs are from their first album, and 3 of their EP's. "I wasn't prepared" is on constant repeat- their voices, especially in that song, are hauntingly amazing.

Not only is their music playing constantly in my ears, but when I obsess I need to know EVERYTHING about a band right NOW! I've signed up to the forums, read numerous articles, downloaded videos etc.

This band is just so cute and wholesome. 5 members- 3 sisters, 1 brother and 1 best friend. The girls voices are all so identical and complimentary, I thought they were all the same person when I first started listening to their songs. They are all so young too- the OLDEST is my age (born 1981). And the fact that they are all so beautiful also adds to their appeal.

They are Texas- so is there anyone out there reading this who has seem to play? I'd love to hear from anyone who has.

You can stream their whole album, Room Noises from MP3.com
Check out videos for a few songs on their website, Eisley.com

Personally my favourites so far are (in this order)- I wasn't prepared, Marvelous Things, Tree Tops and Trolly Wood.

Can you believe this blogging roll I'm on!!!! impressive huh!

I started a site redesign last night. Its hideously tacky and 80s inspired. When your inspiration for colour schemes, image ideas etc includes googling JEM and the Holograms, you know you're in for trouble. I had the bloody theme song stuck in my head all night - especially the best bit... "We are the Misfits, our songs are better. We are the Misfits, the Misfits and we're gonna get her.... JEM, Jem is excitement.....etc"

Although the design side of things will be finished quickly (I imagine), and I'm so impatient and want to change it over NOW, I want to use all these new CSS skills I've picked up over the past 6 months and try and make my whole site using CSS. woot! we'll see how it goes.

I would've mentioned on the forums...but they seem to be down from bandwidth overload. >.>

Hitchiker's Guide doesn't suck! I saw it yesterday and, though I haven't read the book I can't compare it, but as a movie in general it was the best damn thing I've seen this year! I think that bad review was just some crazy lieing purist that was paranoid and hadn't actually even seen it >.>

I saw the Hitchhiker's Guide last night.

It does differ somewhat from the book (I've read all five), but it is entertaining in it's own right. I'm glad to see that they even kept some of the dialogue the same.

no cyruz, that bad review was NOT by someone who had NOT seen the movie., what a stupid thing to say. a purist, yes, but of course he had seen the movie.

a few people i know have seen it and said it is a good movie, but if you are a fan of the books/radio show, then it doesn't quite live up to those. but its still good.

A little off topic here Rhi...what do you consider a good cologne for men...I've been told that mennen musk just doesn't cut it anymore.

well I was kinda exaggerating...but yeah; I really liked the movie and even to a purist I don't see why they could hate it so much. The movie is very good...maybe not a masterpiece; but surely it's still worth watching. I also didn't find that there was plot lines left open or that jokes were wrecked with changes in the dialogue. Maybe it was changed and made it less funny, but less funny is certainly different then completely lacking any remote traces of humour as that review seemed to put across >.>

I have to agree with Cyruz on this one. I just came back from seeing it and I enjoyed myself thoroughly.

I wouldn't call it the definitive version by a long shot, there are differences and some humour was lacking at times, but it was not the horrible experience I was dreading.

    I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

The purists will probably not like it too much. But for a 2 hour movie for a book that needs at last 3 hours to tell, it kept enough in to satisfy.

Mos Eisley, eh? I saw their Marvelous Things video the one time it was played on MTV2 about a year ago. I saw that they had a compilation album out, but didn't see if they had a new album.

    Glad you found them.

BTW, anybody else notice the heavy use of Tegan & Sarah in the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack?

I liked Hitchhikers as well. Translating from the books is hard, the dialogue allways works better in your head than when you hear it said. It was more subtle than the TV show and I really loved that.
I think they did a pretty good job and enjoyed the movie. Which is the point, to be entertaining.

they were Moss Eisley, but then changed their name to just Eisley.
I dont actually watch Grey's Anatomy- i dont think its even on tv here. i'll have to look it up. but yea, one of the tegan and sara fan forums had that bit of news on it.

there was that crazy teen show- fuck what was the name. oh i am so hungover. it was on during the aussie summer. it had tegan and sara playing in episodes- about 3 episodes i think. the show had chad michael murry in it, i think ONE TREE HILL! that's it

and i love that the OC plays lots of rachael yamagata. how great

ps hitchhikers- if they made a perfectly funny, true to the book radio show, why couldn't they do the same with the movie?

anyway i'm going to go see it eventually. glad you all like it.

I was just bragging. They dropped the Moss from the name because they were afraid of George Lucas' lawyers.

Looks like their website has changed since they were signed by Reprise. Probably the best place to quickly find the videos.
