my baby has arrived
its here! my ibook is finally here! thank fucking christ. i am calling her Willow for sure. Willow and Olimar are so going to make babies together now.
Anyway, after work David is helping me get her up and running with all extra apps I will need... (msn for macs, cam programs and other cool applications like Quicksilver).... She's sleeping beside me right now. I love the little sleeping light, its like she's snoring softly. Ahhh i can't wait to have it all working sweetly so I can lay in bed and chat to my favourite peeps (you know who you are :P), or blog from my couch.
If anyone knows of any groovy applications for mac that you think i just HAVE to have, leave a comment!!!! I need all the extra opinions I can get. I'm pretty clueless.

MSN for Mac sucks. There is no Cam support, No Avatar support. Just barebones messaging.

You lucky thing.
Mac's are not limited. They're stable, sexy and are fantastic laptops, and you use ichat for chat, it has avatar and webcam support among other great features.
Check out macorchard.com for some apps. :o)

Congrats on the iMac (mac's shares just went up about 2/3 woo hoo...gonna get some stock). Apple's site has a pretty decent listing of OSX apps. There's also versiontracker, download.com and osxaudio (if you're into makin music).
If you like to watch movies on your mac, definately give 3ivx.com a visit for codecs and www.videolan.org for the media player. If there are any other apps you think you might need and have a heard time getting hold of..feel free to hit me up in my forum.

Congrats for you and Willow. It's been a while since I had a Mac of my own (I wish I never returned to the darkness that is windows) but I've got a site you might find handy, OSX Page. It's a bit rough but it's got lot's of stuff that's free.
And don't forget, Macs are so revered Google has given an entire database just on Mac stuff.

If you want to use iDVD 5 (and you should try it later) but don't have an internal DVD burner, you can still use an external Firewire type. If iDVD 5 doesn't recognize the external DVD burner, there's a fix called "Patchburn". If you can network your DVD project as a "disk image" (it's already encoded and ready to burn- you can use another computer that has a DVD writer...
